The USA has about 800+ bases in the world, depending on what we count as a base. The US occupies about half of all countries in the world. The US has engaged in full scale invasions of Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Syria, and has attacked Sudan, Pakistan, Yemen, Libya and other nations so far in just the 21st century alone. The US has had just 12 years in its entire history as a country in peace. But the US tells us that China is a threat to peace.
China on the other hand has 1 base outside its own borders. It occupies no counties. It has had no war of any kind in the 21st century, and in fact hasn’t been engages in a war in nearly half a century. And China tells us there is enough room for both the US, China and all nations in the world to pursue prosperity.
A central slogan underlining China’s approach to foreign policy is building a ‘better shared future for all humanity.’ If we compare the spokespersons of the United States we see a very different approach, one where the US is eager to protect its status as the world sole imperial power. In January of 2024, Chinese Ambassador to the US, Xie Feng said “The earth is big enough for China and the US to develop respectively and prosper together.” The following month, the US ambassador, Nicholas Burns said “We don’t want to live in a world where the Chinese are the dominant country.”
Chinese international policy is based on the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of foreign countries. US foreign policy is based invading, coups, all under the pretense of ‘spreading democracy’ while the US supports dictatorships when it suits US national interest. That is to say, China practices a non-interventionist foreign policy, while the USA practices a policy of using violence to enforce its governmental structures on colonial subjects of US imperial exploitation.
No. China is not a threat to peace. China is the peace.
